WERE YOU DENIED FOR DISABILITY IN MADISON?

You Were Denied Disability Benefits, What’s Next?

If you were denied benefits, don’t give up. You may still be able to win your case on appeal.

There’s nothing more frustrating than receiving a denial letter from the Social Security Administration (SSA) saying you didn’t win the benefits you need. And while the appeals process can be complex, it’s still possible to win your case.

The truth is, most people who apply for disability benefits are turned down. But at Becker Law Office, it’s our goal to turn your denial into an approval.

    UNDERSTANDING
    YOUR APPEAL

Madison,WI resident filing for appeal online
    There are four levels
    of appeals:
    • RECONSIDERATION: This is a review of your claim by someone who was not involved in the initial decision. Your original evidence is reviewed along with any new evidence you provide.
    • Hearing by an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ): These hearings take place at the Social Security Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. At this appeals stage, you get to present your evidence before a judge who will issue a ruling. Most cases are won at this level.
    • Review by Appeals Council: If the ALJ denies your case, you may ask the Appeals Council for a review. At this stage, the Appeals Council may remand your case back to the ALJ for a new hearing or deny or reverse the unfair decision.
    • Federal Court Review: If you disagree with the Appeals Council decision, you can file a lawsuit in Federal District Court. For this level of appeal, we can refer you to an attorney who specializes in these cases.

If you were denied disability benefits and need to appeal, you’re strongly encouraged to get legal help. Let Becker Law Office fight the government for you. If you were denied, your case isn’t over; contact us for a free evaluation.
